Boeing has setup a MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facility for Air India, which is said to be one of the most modern in th subcontinent. It will service aircraft such as B-737, B-777 and Dreamliner.
Spicejet has signed an MOU with Air India for its MRO facility in MIHAN.

Air India MRO at Nagpur gets approval from DGCA

MRO at MIHAN can do maintenance of Airbus A-319, A-320, A-321 series following approval from DGCA.
The MRO has apron area of 60 acres, the hangar bay is ready, engine unit (testing cell) will be ready by Jan 2017. With this GenX and GE90 engines can be serviced. A workshop is also planned which could be used as branded workshop for GE engines by 2018.
Uptil now 10 Boeing 777 have been checked. By next year 14 A-320 aircraft can be serviced. Private sector aircraft will also be serviced. By March 2017, C & D checks for types of maintenance can be done on 777 and 320 series.
There are over 500 aircraft in the country & the MRO has huge potential. Aviation is growing @23% in India compared to 7% worldwide. Over 7.5 million tourists come to India.
