The man behind the award-winning ‘Little Krishna’, the first high-end 3D TV Series from India and the man who brought global film studios to do business with India, Ashish Kulkarni, shared useful insights for entrepreneurs :
Is your team of day-dreamers? Do you see the dream with your people? Most people do not even evaluate where they are now.
You must create value for your business. Go to different places, work in different places/ countries. Find out in global markets what is happening, attend foreign shows. See the outside world, take your kids along, you will be able to analyse and compare, don’t live in isolation.
Be creative in choosing your partners. Reflect on your business. Position your business properly. If you are creative you will be remembered by the world.
The better the team you have, the better you will perform.
In one of the companies where he was working, he was looking after about 600 employees. He knew each single employee’s parents, brothers & sisters. When an employee won an award, he would call the parents for the program and thank them too. Such was the bonding that when difficult time came upon this company none of the people left him and even worked without salary for over a year.
If something is troubling you, talk to the government, write on mygov.in
Have a succession plan in place. If your children are not interested in pursuing your profession/ business, rather than closing the business when you are old, be willing to sell your running business to another person in your field. You have a reputation, it has value, your C.A. can help you value it. People do this in other countries.
Nagpur allows you time to do a morning walk and to meet other people often in social events. So instead of gossiping, share ideas, speak good things, see how you can introduce “Digital India” and “Make in India” in your city. In the next 10 years India will have 6 times more children going to schools/colleges than have been going to during the past 10 years.
In 2 years Nagpur will become the most infrastructure equipped city in the country, with infrastructure coming ahead of it’s time. Share such positive news with your friends, become brand ambassadors of your city.
Since several years Ashish has been meeting South Korean CEO’s and have been bringing them to Nagpur. They are very positive about investing in India now due to bold measures like demonetization & GST being undertaken by the government.
Ashish’s latest venture is India’s first girl superhero series, on Mary Kom. He was speaking at VMA.
