Digital footprints for future planning for smart city
21-Nov-2015:
Considering the holistic development of a smart city, a digitized footprint needs to be integrated to monitor housing, transport, power, communication, water supply, for future planning and to take action, during natural disasters or certain developments, by placing sensors on bridges and important locations, to understand what is going on through a central system said Dr Nemy Banthia, Professor at University of British Columbia, Canada and CEO, Indo-Canada Impact Center.
Rural development must be included and similar digital sensors could be implanted and used to monitor various developments he said.
He was speaking at Global Nagpur Summit via video-conference on the panel discussion ‘Towards a Smarter City- Roadmap to Growth’.
