Land leasing act to boost farming in India

NITI Aayog has prepared a model Land Leasing Act which states can adopt & modify. It will encourage land leasing between farmers to boost farming. The Act will legalize leasing of land between farmers and farming co-operatives.
It proposes automatic resumption of land on expiry of agreed lease period. This will ensure security of land ownership for landowners as well as security of tenure for lessee cultivators for the lease term.
