CM clears Nagpur metro region plan with changes

Nagpur Metro Region Development plan has finally been cleared by CM Devendra Fadnavis with several changes.
NMRDA is soon expected to publish the final plan with changes suggested by the government.
NIT Clears draft development plan of Nagpur Metro Region

NIT has cleared the plan covering an area of 3,567 sq kms, spread over an area of 721 villages of 9 tehsils. NIT will not have to acquire land for development as it will be done under land pooling system.
This draft plan will serve as a blueprint for land use & infrastructure proposals for a period of 20 years upto 2032. It will also pave th way for development of new Nagpur near the city will all the facilities & infrastructure.
As per census, about 10.3 lakh people reside in NMRDA area, the migration rate is about 6-8%. Tersiary sector employs about 40% workforce and agriculture about 58%.
Majority growth is expected to take place near the employment generation areas of MIHAN, Butibori, Hingna, outer ring road, along Wardha road, Amravati Road, Bhandara road.
Areas near Nagpur city i.e. MIHAN, Hingna, major areas within outer ring road which are witnessing development will allow higher intensity development.
Over 70% of the population is expected to be located in Urban areas & remaining in rural areas.
Six key focus areas have been identified i.e. Steel, modular & wooden furniture, higher education, healthcare, cotton & textiles, paper & pulp to attract investment.
New industrial zones have been proposed at Jamtha, Wanadongri, Gondkheri, Tarodi, Koradi, Kapsi and Khaparkheda.
