Solar Industries setting up ammunition plant in Nagpur

Solar Industries, India’s largest manufacturer of Industrial explosives and Explosive initiating systems is setting up an ammunition plant with an investment of Rs 1550 crores to manufacture ammunition for the Armed Forces.
It setup an HMX plant (India’s 1st in private sector), facilities to produce other products like war-heads and Pyros and a large composite propellant plant.
It will be building world-class facilities to produce bi-modular charge systems (BMCS), new generation of hand grenades and fully integrated rockets.
The know-how is to be obtained from DRDO. BMCS is the explosive that propels shells to distances of over 30 kms, it is a vital artillery requirement which is expected to double over the next decade as more artillery guns are being procured.
